2009 Benefit Dinner and Performance

In 1969 the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum became Meredith Monk’s stage for Juice: A Theatre Cantata, a groundbreaking work by the young singer/composer/choreographer.

Forty years after that historic occasion, Monk returns to the Guggenheim Museum for a special performance, Ascension Variations.

	6:30 pm Cocktails 7:00 pm Dinner prepared by Margot Henderson with Rirkrit Tiravanija The National Academy Museum 1053 Fifth Avenue (at 89th Street) 9:00 pm Performance (60 min.) of Meredith Monk’s Ascension Variations, followed by dessert and champagne reception with the performers Guggenheim Museum 1071 Fifth Avenue (at 89th Street) Ascension Variations will be performed by: Meredith Monk & Vocal Ensemble: David Cossin, Ellen Fisher, Katie Geissinger, Ching Gonzalez, Bohdan Hilash, Meredith Monk, Bruce Rameker, and Allison Sniffin with the Todd Reynolds Quartet, the Stonewall Chorale, Montclair State University Chorale and a cast of over twenty dancers.
